NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE A National Leadership Meet for Jesus Youth of America was held from July 12th - 16th, 2006 in Rockford, Illinois with nearly fifty people gathering from various parts of the nation. We were blessed to have excellent international full-time evangelizers, Colin Calmiano and Jude Jude Antoine, with us throughout those few days. They brought our hearts and minds to a closer understanding of the principles of servant leadership, a concept we struggle with and face every day. Colin and Jude spoke with great power and conviction about their life experiences, which were inspiring, and captured the hearts of everyone present. The days were filled with intensive learning, helping us to probe at our own mind and spirit, reflecting on where our treasure truly lies. We were also graced with the presence of Bishop Mar P.K. George who encouraged us to evangelize and share our love of Christ wherever we go. The days spent in Rockford are etched in all our hearts, and we excitingly look forward to having another Leadership Meet next year! -Tisha Thomas, NJ Testimonies from the Leadership Meet "I attended the Jesus Youth of America Leadership Meet in Illinois. I not only received an outpouring of the Holy Spirit that week, but met many new, amazing people from all over the US. During the retreat, we shared rooms with others; this was a great experience for me, in that I became close to the people I roomed with. During the retreat, the two missionaries (our resource persons) spoke to us about evangelization and discipleship. They talked about God's love, and shared with us the need for evangelization. We must give our souls to God because He gave his life for us! This is what I believe from my heart. I also experienced spiritual and physical healing. Through the Eucharist and Adoration, I felt a deep spiritual cleansing in my heart. It was through the Adoration that I was blessed with physical healing. For a couple of years, I had been having pain in both of my knees, and was suffering from Osgood-Schlatter Disease. During this retreat, I was healed of this pain forever! Now I feel new! God is so good!! When I returned home after the retreat, I felt God’s awesome love in my heart, and His joy in my life. But during this leadership conference, it really hit home with the “Wheel Analogy”. Christ must be at the center. It is really important to have Christ as the center of our lives, because then He will influence all the aspects of your life in a good way. If Christ is TRULY the center of your life, then every aspect of your life will be influenced in a positive way, such as the jokes you say, the books you read, the movies you watch, the activities you partake in, friendships, and your overall thoughts. God created us in His likeliness, to be just like Him, so we must strive to be His children who live as He lives.
