In a remarkable milestone, Jesus Youth held two spirit-filled Commitment Retreats this past month.
The first-ever Jesus Youth Canada Commitment Retreat took place from October 18-20 in Orangeville, Ontario, with Twenty Three participants, including a priest, making their formal commitment after progressing through the Contact and Companion Phases. Leaders from both the USA and Canada, including Dr. Edward Edezhath, Jose Jacob, Shigi Johnson, Timson, and Fr. Reji, guided the retreatants through this significant journey.
Meanwhile, in Florida, the third Commitment Retreat was held at the ACI campus in Delray Beach, where thirty Five participants made their Regular Commitment despite challenges posed by Hurricane Milton. Their resilience and faith mirrored Christ’s words, “Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?” (Mk 4:40). Bishop Joy Alappatt of the Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Chicago presided over the Holy Qurbana and Commitment Ceremony, delivering a powerful homily on the Eucharist and evangelization.
As these newly committed members from both Canada and Florida embark on their discipleship journey, we ask for your prayers. Let us remain rooted in the Eucharist and continue reaching out to the fallen away and the unchurched.
Looking ahead, the next Jesus Youth America Commitment Retreat is scheduled for June 13–16, 2025. Mark your calendars if you are on the Jesus Youth Formation journey and plan to take Regular Commitment next year.
