Major Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church and Ecclesiastical Advisor of Jesus Youth International
Christmas reminds us of the power of patient hope in a modern world that often pushes us to seek instant gratification. Consider how the world waited in darkness for the coming of its Saviour. Just as the star guided the wise men through the night, your faith can illuminate the path forward when life's directions seem unclear. Like that star in Bethlehem, each of you has the power to guide others toward Christ through your example and devotion. As you navigate your journey of faith, remember that, like Joseph and Mary, who found no room at the inn, you may encounter closed doors and disappointments. However, these challenges are not obstacles to God's plan; they are often the very paths through which His glory is revealed. The manger reminds us that in our moments of greatest vulnerability, Christ meets us exactly where we are. This Christmas, I hope you recognize your role in God's ongoing story of salvation. May you find the courage to embrace it with the same trust that Mary displayed when she said, "Let it be done unto me according to Your word." Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
