The JAM Teens Retreat, held from December 2 to 4, 2024, at St. Ann's Girls Seminary Secondary School in Kihonda, Morogoro, brought together over 300 teenagers for a spiritually uplifting experience. Centered around the theme "Abide in me, and I in you!" (John 15:4), the retreat aimed to inspire and deepen the faith of young participants through teachings, worship, and spiritual activities.
The event featured impactful sessions led by dedicated facilitators. Br. Allan conducted sessions on topics such as "You are Special & Unique" and "Prayer & Personal Prayer," while Fr. Simon SDB and Bro. Moses enriched the experience with their guidance. The retreat also included dynamic praise and worship, action songs, and transformative spiritual activities such as "Inner-Healing Adoration" and "Anointing Prayer" led by Fr. Simon SDB.
A key highlight was a series of panel discussions on the "6 Pillars of Jesus Youth" and the "Work-Style of Jesus Youth," led by Br. Allan. These discussions provided participants with valuable insights into the mission and spirituality of the Jesus Youth movement, fostering a deeper connection with its values and purpose.
The success of the retreat was attributed to the collective efforts of the Montfort Brothers, Fr. Simon SDB, the Sisters of Morogoro, and local priests from Kifaru Parish. Special recognition was given to Moses, whose enthusiasm and dedication energized the event, as well as to international and local team members, including Sam Francis and Joshua Joseph, among others from Tanzania.
On December 5, following the retreat, a meeting with the teaching staff of St. Ann's Girls Secondary School was held to discuss the retreat's impact and introduce the Jesus Youth Movement. The staff expressed strong support for forming prayer groups, set to begin in January 2025. Additionally, a meeting with Edwiga Francis Pendo, the youth leader at Jordan University in Morogoro, provided opportunities to engage further with local youth.
The retreat concluded with participants expressing a renewed sense of spiritual connection and enthusiasm to continue their faith journeys. Anticipation is high for follow-up activities planned for January 2025, as the JAM Teens Retreat marked a significant step in inspiring and empowering the next generation of faithful young leaders.
