Jesus Youth Mission in Sierra Leone

March 2025

After nearly a year of preparations, prayer, and discernment, the Jesus Youth Mission in Sierra Leone has taken a significant step forward with the arrival of a missionary family in Freetown. Jaison Thattil, his wife Jincy, and their children—Jessica (14), Jianna (9), and Josiya (8)—have answered God’s call, marking a new chapter in the movement’s expansion in Africa.

The mission was introduced at Good Shepherd Church, Kwama, where Fr. Rayappa welcomed the Jesus Youth team and shared the vision of the movement. The mission has already taken root in two parishes, including Newtown Parish, with a warm welcome from the local community.

Mission Outreach & Engagement

Despite local challenges, the family has launched impactful outreach programs:

  • Children’s Gathering – Catechesis and interactive sessions for children.
  • Teen & Youth Gatherings – Formation and mentoring for local youth.

Challenges & Support Needed

Sierra Leone presents practical challenges such as limited electricity and clean water, yet the local faith and hospitality remain strong. The family will soon move into their mission home with integrated school facilities. To sustain their mission, a monthly support of $1,500 is needed.

How You Can Help

The Jesus Youth community is invited to pray and support financially. Donations can be made through the Jesus Youth International Office to help the family serve effectively.

A Growing Mission in Africa

This mission marks a milestone in Jesus Youth’s journey in Africa, filled with hope and promise. With continued prayer and support, it will bring the light of Christ to many hearts in Sierra Leone.
