We are delighted to share the joyful news of the Diaconate Ordination of Rev. Deacon Anthony Kunnumpurath, a Jesus Youth seminarian in formation for the priesthood, who is to be incardinated into the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Chicago.
The ordination was solemnised by the Most Rev. Mar Joy Alappat, Bishop of the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Chicago, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Amoris Christi Chapel, Delray Beach, USA.
Rev. Deacon Anthony Kunnumpurath, hailing from Kerala, India, completed his MBBS studies in India before specialising in Internal Medicine in the United States. His journey with Christ took a decisive turn in 2015, when he served for a year in Haiti as part of the Jesus Youth Haiti Mission. Since then, he has been an integral part of Jesus Youth in the USA, including serving on the Jesus Youth USA National Mission Team. His parents are based in Kerala, while his brother, sister, and five nieces and nephews reside in the USA.
Since 2009, the International Year of Priests, when the formation of the first batch of seminarians began, the movement has been blessed, by God’s grace and mercy, with four priests ordained.
Let us continue to keep Rev. Deacon Anthony in our prayers as he takes this significant step towards the priesthood.
