Eighty leaders from across Canada gathered from May 16–18, 2026, for the Jesus Youth Canada National Assembly, a significant moment of prayer, discernment, fellowship, and strategic planning for the movement. The Assembly was held under the theme “A Synodal Movement in Mission,” inviting participants to reflect on their shared calling and explore pathways for strengthening the movement at the grassroots level.
Throughout the Assembly, delegates engaged in prayerful discussions and collaborative planning, resulting in localized action plans aimed at fostering growth, accompaniment, and missionary outreach in their respective regions. The gathering provided a valuable opportunity for leaders to listen, discern, and respond together to the needs and challenges of the mission in Canada.
The formation sessions were led by Manoj Sunny, Formation Director of Jesus Youth International, who guided participants through a series of reflections on themes including “God Is Faithful Forever,” “Synodal Leadership,” “Called and Set Apart,” and “Sending Forth.” These sessions encouraged leaders to deepen their relationship with Christ, embrace a synodal style of leadership, and renew their commitment to missionary discipleship.
As part of the preparation for the Assembly, a pre-Assembly reflection was held on May 3, led by Dr. Edward Edezhath. The session helped participants reflect more deeply on the theme and prepare spiritually for the discernment and discussions that would take place during the National Assembly.
Participants returned to their communities inspired by a renewed sense of purpose and a shared vision of ongoing conversion, accompaniment, and evangelization, embracing the movement’s call to “Love Beyond Borders.”
A defining highlight of the National Assembly was the process of reconstitution. Following a period of prayerful discernment, a new National Council was elected and officially announced, marking the beginning of a new chapter of leadership and service for Jesus Youth Canada.
