Encountering Christ in the Heart of Nature
All of Creation is a Monstrance for Our Lord
This past July & August, Jesus Youth Thrive offered two incredible 5-day backpacking experiences where participants journeyed into the wilderness to encounter God through nature and community.
The first trip, Thrive Plus, took place in the Bridger Teton National Forest in Wyoming, USA with 14 participants. As the first leadership-based Thrive, it invited reflection on what it means to thrive, not just survive. The second trip brought 15 participants into the Tahoe National Forest in California, USA.
With a priest present on both journeys, the group was blessed with daily Mass on the trail and the gift of adoration and confession. A guiding scripture for the trips was Psalm 46:11: “Be still and know that I am God.” This verse came alive in powerful ways throughout both experiences.
